Understanding Plans in SimplyComp
If you're unfamiliar with the concept of a plan in SimplyComp, review the concept of a plan here. One of the fundamental questions when building plans within SimplyComp is determining how many plans are needed. Chances are you need less plans than you think. Follow the below steps to get you started.
Take the chart outline below and think about how your employees are paid. This outline creates the "shell" of the plan. Quota values, and payment rates can be customized per person, but the values outlined below need to stay consistent for everyone on that plan. This is derived from the Account Executive plan that came as part of the Test Drive. We will be recreating that plan as part of this walk through.
Payment Rules | ||||
Rule Name | Payment Frequency | Attainment Frequency | Payment Structure | Quota? |
New Business | Monthly | Annual | Tiered Commission | Yes |
Renewals | Monthly | Monthly | Tiered Commission | Yes |
Services | Monthly | Monthly | Flat | No |
Quarterly Achievement Bonus | Quarterly | Quarterly | Tiered Bonus | Yes |

Quota Name | Attainment Frequency |
New Business | Quarterly |
Renewals | Quarterly |
Bookings Bonus | Quarterly |
Things to Note:
✓ You can set a payment rule to pay $0 for an individual user on a plan, but you cannot add a payment rule for a single person on a plan. However, since you can have a user assigned to multiple plans, you could set up a specific plan for a given user with their special payment on it (and have the user on the standard plan with all of the other users).
✓ All quotas on the plan will appear on the users dashboard. Putting a zero value in for a quota will result with the user seeing a quota with a value of 0 on their dashboard.
✓ Regardless of how people get credit (e.g. direct credit because they sold the deal, rollup credit because they manage a team, or territory credit because they own a region) they can still all be on the same plan. The specifics of how a user gets credit is handled in the Compensable Reports section.
