What is a Plan?
Within SimplyComp, a Plan is a collection of components shared by users within similar roles. These components include Quotas, Payment Rates, and Terms and Conditions. Once a user is assigned to a plan, they will be associated with all components on that plan. However, you have the option to set Payment Rates or Quotas that are specific to a user by creating User Specific Overrides.
To some companies, their compensation rules are already broken out to clearly defined plans. For other companies, this may be a new concept as they have historically had specific rules per user. Either way, SimplyComp can work for you.

As long as the User has the 'Sales Representative' Permission Set, they can be assigned to as many plans as needed. Additionally, Effective Start and End Dates can be set on the User level to specify the time range the plan applies to the given user.
User Specific Overrides
When you're viewing a plan, if you click into a user's name on the plan. This takes you to their personal plan details view. Any changes made on this level to Effective Dates, Quotas, and/or Payment Rates apply ONLY to the selected user.
Plan and Calendar Relationships
Within SimplyComp, plans are not assigned to a given Calendar year. As such, a plan can span multiple years. Given this, you do not need to rebuild the plan every year. However, Quotas and Payments are associated to a given Calendar year. So, it is required that you build new Quotas and Payments every year (even if you intend on keeping the same plan). This is due to the fact that Quotas and Payments derive their behavior from the Calendar selected.
In the below sequence notice that FY18 Calendar has Quota's created and associated with it. Whereas, the FY19 Calendar does not yet have Quota's built.
Plan and User Effective Dates
Every user assigned to a plan also has a corresponding Plan Effective Date that dictates when the user will be considered for calculation with the rules on the plan. The Plan Effective Date is specified at the day level and therefore allows for mid-month effective changes.
